Bastar Divyang Seva Samiti (BDSS)

Bastar Divyang Seva Samiti formerly known as Bastar Viklang Seva Samiti is an N.G.O. dedicated towards the development and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and other needy people especially women and children. The society provides services in the field of education, health and socio-economic development activities for the benefits of the people irrespective of caste, creed, religion and race. The Samiti work for the integrated development of people in the area especially the women and children. We have undertaken projects for the inclusive education of the children in the villages, formation of self-help groups and Bal- panchayats etc.

Bastar Divyang Seva Samiti was officially established in 2001 to work mainly in the field of disabilities.  It was registered as a society with the registration No.708/01. Also, it is registered with the National Trust (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Beginning the activity with the participatory survey and awareness programs in 2000, it is now rendering services in Bastar Division. Bastar division consists of 7 districts Bastar, Kanker, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Narayanpur and Kondagaon.

The main focus of the organization is to provide various services in the field of disabilities. The main activities in the disability field are; Community based rehabilitation programmes to reach out to the unreached children and people in the areas and for their early identification and interventions. Special school and residential hostel for the differently abled, (for the hearing impaired, visually impaired and intellectually disabled children. There is a physiotherapy department for the children with cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities and mental retardation.

  • The organization received the state award from the Honorable Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri. Narsingam for the best institution working in the field of Multiple Disabilities for the year 2007-2008.

  • Received the State award from the Honorable Chief Minister Shri. Raman Singh for the best institution working in the field of Multiple Disabilities in 2016.

  • Best CBR Practice-2022 for the outstanding commitment in Disability Inclusive Development given from Jan- Vikas Samiti, Varanasi-U.P.

  • Expansion: - 2008 on March 8, we have started a Rehabilitation center for the Mentally ill women at Kolchur in Bastar District who were wandering on the roads, with the permission and request of the district authorities. Now there are about 27 mentally ill women who reside at the center. In 2021 with the help of State

  • Government, we have started the Gharonda Yojana scheme for these mental patients.
